Itinerary
Day 1:Pick up and transfer to Mbale town for overnight.
Day 2: Transfer to Budadiri Park offices for briefing and start hiking.
Day 3: Hiking Mount Elgon.
Day 4: Hiking to the top of Mount Elgon and thereafter descend to Kagyenyi Camp for overnight.
Day 5: Descend to the Park headquarters and transfer to Mbale town for dinner and overnight.
Day 6: Visit the Sipi Falls in Kapachorwa and after Transfer to Jinja for overnight.
Day 7: Visit the source of the Nile in Jinja and after return to Kampala.
Day 1:
Airport pickup ,do some shopping modalities and transfer to the eastern part of the country stopping in Mbale town for overnight at the Mbale hotel.
Day 2: (8km hike-7-8hours walk)
After early breakfast transfer to Budadiri park offices to secure rangers, porters before starting the climb. You will follow the Sasa trail, which passes through the largest area of bamboo forest in the park, continue through the Mude cliffs till you reach Sasa river camp(2.900m) for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: (5km hike-4-5hours walk)
After breakfast, The climb takes you over Jacksons pool before making it to Wagagai Peak (4321m) or Jackson peak (4165m). This will be a long day hike before reaching the Jackson summit. Over-night at Mude camp.
Day 4: ( 18km-8-9 hours walk)
Hike to the top of the Caldera stretching over 40 km. This is believed to be one of the biggest caldera in the world. Descend for overnight at Kagyenyi camp.
Day 5:
Descend following the Sasa trail. Transfer to Mbale hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 6:
After breakfast drive on the Kapchorwa road seeing the scenic slopes of the mountain en route to Sipi Falls. Explore the Sipi Falls area and return to Mbale for lunch. After lunch drive to Jinja hotel for overnight.
Day 7:
Visit the source of River Nile, Bujagali falls and proceed to Kampala. End of safari.
What to bring: Tent, Sleeping bag, Warm clothes/gloves/hat, Sturdy hiking shoes, Flashlight, Water bottle, Raingear and first aid Kit.
