Itinerary
Day 1
Morning: Transfer to Uganda Wildlife Education Centre.
Afternoon: Visit Entebbe botanical gardens and return to Kampala.
Entebbe is located 45 minutes drive from Kampala city centre. It is a colonial town situated at the Lake Shore with Indian style buildings. The major attractions here are Uganda Wildlife Education Centre and Entebbe Botanical gardens or optional visit to Kigungu traditional fishing village.
After breakfast transfer to the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre (UWEC) in Entebbe expecting to see many of Ugandas local animal species and some exotic ones, represented by more than 200 animals kept in spacious enclosures. Mixed species exhibitions simulate Ugandas ecosystems of Savannah, wetlands and rain forest and present amongst others the rare Shoebill Stork, lions, white rhinos, chimps and other primates, ungulates and many reptiles.
There is also a designed forest walk with lots of information and a garden, which explains the medical use of local herbs. Watch out for over 200 bird species and free Vervet monkeys.
Lunch in Entebbe town.
In the afternoon visit Entebbe Botanical Gardens.This was established in 1901 and it offers a superb introduction to Ugandan birds. In the gardens expect to see many interesting trees, shrubs and plants to look at and for the braver ones there is a spider walk with lots of live exhibits hanging off the trees.The other optional will be visit to Kigungu traditional fishing village.
Return to Kampala.
